Bright Day

…A Haiku
sunlight from above
waves of beauty reflect
leaves fade instantly

Inspiration: Poem demonstrating duality of life’s experiences. Sunlight can cause beauty to show on waters, while cause leaves to fade and eventually dry out. So, in life, one event can cause one person joy and another, sorrow. Based upon “Romans 11:22 – Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God.”

The Beauty of Me

My glory is majestic
My power is unmatched
Bow in my presence
The splendor of me

Conceit you say?
No, it’s truth
I may be mortal
Albeit better than you

Say my name with respect
Utter of my doings with care
Hold me in honor
The reverence of me

Conceit some suggest?
I definitely disagree
I’m only human
Although worth more than thee

Behold me and become green
Gaze upon me and see red
I am stunning and gorgeous
The beauty of me

Conceit they propose?
It’s only a fact
I live among the mortals
Being much greater than all

Inspiration: Poem relating the extreme conceit of some people. We all should be on guard against worshipping the idol of self and demanding others to be converts. Based upon Proverbs 18:2 – Before destruction the heart of man is proud, but before honor is humility. ~TRP~

The Treacherous Knight

Striking fear and horror in all who hear it;
Accompanied by visions of eternal torment.
The tale of him has made strong men weak,
Overshadowing the dregs of religion in defeat.
Utter of his legend in the season of the night.
Whisper of his coming glory revealed in death’s light.
Cower in veiled respect to hell’s most treacherous knight.

Inspiration: Poem describing the Beast or Antichrist who is to come. Christians must stand in the faith, knowing that what is written shall surely be revealed. Based upon II Thessalonians 2:8-9 “And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders…” ~ TRP ~

‘Tis the Night (Tritina Style)

‘Tis the night before my new life begins.
What will happen as the new day emerges,
Fear, regret, or earnest expectations?

“Nothing ventured, nothing gained:” or just futile expectations,
While a scenario of possible failure begins.
Through the clutter of thoughts, hope emerges.

Confidence of a bright future emerges,
Making me a slave to raised expectations.
A smirk, a smile, a new expression on my face begins.

My new life begins, emerges, with glorious expectations.

Inspiration: This poetic piece describes anticipation that we all feel when embarking on new endeavors; the Christian remains confident because of Christ’s presence. Based upon Philippians 1:6 – “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.” ~TRP~

Working Mother

The day begins with shouts and screams
children needing to be fed and cleaned
The night passed away so fast
Feelings of rest just don’t last

Offspring now are off to learn
Spouse departs under pressure to earn
Alone in the house with her thoughts
Dreading the future demands of her boss

Dressed, pressed, and neatly groomed
Off to work fighting against inner gloom
Visions of a future where labors cease
Bring comfort to the present times of no relief

A woman worn, weathered, and watchful
Holding the family together against the doubtful
A precious jewel above all others
Bow in reverence to the working mother.

Inspiration: Poem demonstrating the life of a working mother. Today’s working mother is what I call today’s The Modern Virtuous Woman. Based upon Proverbs 31:10 – “Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies..”

Lilith’s Song

What can be said of She
The woman who dared to be greater than He
Give her honor for magnifying the dark
Desire and domination are rewards of her labor

Come to her
Eat. Drink.
Satisfying impulses
While restraints are bound

Revel in her pleasures
In the dark she appears
Children beware, mothers fear
Her way is one of vengeance

Bringing men into her lair
Her wiles hide the grip of terror
Her beauty blinds the eyes

Don’t go into her web
Submit not to her embrace
Her rule will end
Her ways will stop
Darkness reveals She
The woman who dared to be greater than He.

Inspiration: Poem inspired by the woman of the “Mystery of Babylon” described in Revelation. The Christian must not partake of her allures and remain faithful to Christ. Based upon Revelation 15:5 – And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

Welcome Home

Juliet said, “Parting is such sweet sorrow”
We know how her story ended
Our time apart offered no sweetness
Only feelings of sorrow and emptiness

Emotions of regret and joy battle for victory
As I ponder the storms of our relational history
Regret is pinned downed conceding defeat
Present joy has rendered past sins obsolete

Elated to set my eyes upon you
No sadness, only hope renewed
Excitement fills me from the core to the bone
As I open my mouth declaring, “Welcome Home!”

Inspiration: This poetic piece describes the joy at a long awaited reunion. Based upon the story of the Prodigal Son found in Luke 15:11-24 – “And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.” ~TRP~
